“I had the privilege of Tessa guiding me through my second birth. My first birth was a hospital birth so going into the out of hospital birth experience I was prepared for the pain of childbirth but not prepared for the transformation that Tessa would help guide me through. I first met Tessa at my initial visit. Tessa was warm, welcoming and offered such a positive approach to answering all of our questions. Through my pregnancy, I saw Tessa a few times and each time was more comforting than the visit before. At 6 days overdue, Tessa and I had an appointment and we made a plan for me to induce labor the following day. Neither of us knew that labor was going to start that night on its own. I called Tessa at 2:30, to tell her I had contractions, she had such a calming voice for being in the middle of the night; I lost all of my panics and actually went back to bed. My water broke within an hour and we met at the birthing center, Tessa comforted me and give me options on how to proceed with labor.
During the beginning of my labor, Tessa gave me space to navigate contractions with my partner well - offering guidance when I needed it. Tessa had such an ease about her when she was reading my body language and my natural body reactions to know when I was within an hour of having my son. During the last stretch of labor, my son’s heartbeat began to drop, Tessa reacted in such an incredible way. She calmed me down, walked me through, provided options, and delivered my healthy, happy, and loving son.
Because of Tessa’s incredible talent, I had the most amazing rebirth for myself and birthing experience for my son. Tessa is truly meant to be a midwife, she embodies all of the aspects of the quote “A midwife must possess the hand of a lady, the eyes of a hawk, and the heart of a lion.” If there is one person that holds all of those characteristics it is Tessa without question!”
